Two years ago I asked for an elliptical machine and my mom said she'd get it. Christmas morning -- an old leather coat, granny panties, socks, sheets, vitamins. I was so disappointed that I couldn't hide it. She got pissed at my ingratitude and less than a month later kicked me out of the house. Took 8 months to work out, and it's still a tense, charged subject. At least you got a few good things. No matter what, my advice is to hide disappointment and save up to give yourself your own gifties, b/c people might get embarrassed and resent you, even if they're the ones breaking the guidelines. Sucks, but sometimes it's just better to go in expecting nothing and then getting pleasantly surprised. Love, Roo

oh, you're so not being a brat. a family asks for wishlists, you give them wishlists, and then they ignore it. it's a half-assed process and it sucks. thing is, it's gifts which aren't earned, so any complaints/disappointment will only get them pissed at you, which isn't fair and is passive aggressive. so you meet your wants/needs, and at the very least , family time is smooth sailing. but i so seriously feel your pain. love, roo
